Dear Family and Friends,
This week I experienced "Toddlers and Tiaras: Mongolian Style." I really never thought I would experience this, and now I've experienced it on my mission. Seriously, I was helping boys put on their bow ties and girls put on their tiaras. It was crazy, but they all looked really cute! Apparently this is a normal occurrence here in the Big Blue Sky. I've been asking all of the other missionaries, "When you were in kindergarten did you wear big puffy dresses and tiaras?" Their answer is always yes. The concert went very well. I have videos that I will try to show you over Skype. I think I will also be getting a DVD complete with samples of my English teaching--that will be fun to watch years down the road. (Not! :)
This week we had a little extra time, so we went to visit Oyounbat. As we walked to her house we practiced what we were going to say. We were both nervous and wondered if she would even meet with us, but we knocked on the door and miraculously she let us in. We had a wonderful lesson and we talked about Jesus Christ. In her prayer she asked to have help in deciding if she should get baptized. She also came to church yesterday! Hopefully she will continue to make and keep commitments that will help her progress towards baptism.
Oh ya, I have a new companion. Her name is Sister Onon. She is a "real" missionary. On Friday I checked my phone and I had a text message from President Benson informing me of this change. It appears that we will only be companions for two weeks because Sister Onon only brought that many clothes. She also really wants to go back to Darkhan, so if she doesn't leave in two weeks there are going to be some tears. I don't really know what will happen, but I'm getting really good at switching companions. I used to be nervous, now I just go with the flow.
Merry Christmas!
Love, Sister Magleby
