Dear Family and Friends,
First of all let's talk about time. I can't believe it's March already! Today is March 3rd which means that exactly 11 months ago I entered the MTC. A mission is seriously one giant time warp; time is flying! I'm already sad that this is all going to end, so I just try not to think about it. I love Mongolia, and I love being a missionary. I have learned a lot in the past 11 months, but I don't feel like I've learned enough. Luckily I still have time to learn, even though it may not seem like it.
This week was a week of meetings. We had zone training, English teaching training, stake conference. It was fabulous. At zone training our focus was planning lessons. This was a direct quote that I loved. "The Americans have bad Mongolian, but teach very clearly. They need to plan. The Mongolians have perfect Mongolian, so they talk and talk. They need to plan." Thank you! Seriously, I'm glad we've established this fact. Now we're trying to implement lesson planning which is proving to be somewhat difficult, but we're working on it. English teaching training was basically a party. We did talk about English, but we had fun while we did it.
Stake Conference deserves it's own paragraph. On Saturday night the topic was temples. Of course all of the members want a temple in Mongolia. The message of the evening was basically that we need to do more than "want." In order for Mongolia to get a temple we need to "act!" They also made it very clear that "when" Mongolia gets a temple is up to the members. President Benson urged everyone to make the Sabbath Day a little more important, pay tithing, etc. We also had some visiting general authorities. On Sunday there were some boundary changes. Two branches were combined together with the hopes that they will soon become a ward. A new branch was created. It's exciting to see all of these changes that are helping us prepare for a temple in Mongolia.
Well between all of our meetings, study, and English we tried to teach the gospel. We taught another lesson to Munkhzul and we set his baptismal date. Hopefully he and Oyunbat can get baptized together in April. That is our goal! We also met with Tuwshintuul this week. We were meeting with her when I first came to Sukhbaatar but then something happened and she didn't want to meet with us. On Saturday we went to her house again (because her phone never works) and we ended up meeting with her. I think she was excited to meet with us again.
Sister Munguntoya and I are having fun. She likes singing the songs that I teach to my kids at the kindergarten throughout the day. Seriously, people probably think we're crazy. We laugh a lot which is good.
I hope you all have a great week!
Love, Sister Magleby
| We had English training this week. Elder Clement came from Erdenet just for our two hour meeting. We like to take pictures whenever we're together and this is usually the result. |
| We saw a concert. Just kidding, we went to stake conference. |
