Dear Family and Friends,
This was a great week, full of grand adventures. Some of the highlights included going to a park with my kindergarten children, being companions with Sister Ackley for a day, Zone Conference, and a baptism.
Ever since we came to Mongolia Sister Ackley and I have been looking forward to the day we could be companions again. We thought it would be on the plane ride home, but this week it actually happened. Sister Lkhagvajargal and I did splits with the Bayanzurkh sisters and Sister Ackley just happened to be my companion. Of course, we had a great time. It was really neat to do real life missionary things together. It was kind of a crazy day which included interviews with President Benson, teaching English, district meeting, and study. Despite the chaos we did teach one lesson together--in Mongolian. We were proud of how much we've improved since the last time we taught together. :)
Saturday was a crazy day because we had zone conference and then headed straight to our baptism. Zone conference was spectacular, but somewhat stressful considering the fact that Sister Lkhagvajargal and I had to teach a 20 minute lesson. Luckily, Heavenly Father blesses us when we plan and prepare, so it went well. The missionaries in our zone can now hopefully share and explain scriptures with those we teach. Throughout the day we also learned about attitude, not taking offense, how to sew buttons, and how to better reach our goals. We ate tacos for lunch which was a highlight, but my favorite part of the day was an activity President Benson created. We all received three sticky notes where we wrote down the number of lessons from the previous week, this week, and next week. Then we went downstairs to the chapel and he told us to stick last week's numbers on the wall as high as we could. Of course we all started running and jumping and sticking them as high as we thought we could. Then he told us to put this week's goals higher than last weeks. Interestingly, we were all successful. Finally, we had to put next week's numbers higher than the previous two weeks. Despite the fact that we placed the first sticky note "as high as we could" the first time, I think everyone kept going higher. Then we talked about achieving our goals, and always improving. It was creative, and we all learned from it!
On Saturday night, Otgontugs got baptized! A family of five from the Jargalant branch (also in our building) also got baptized so there were a lot of people in attendance. In the end we pulled it off flawlessly despite the fact that our yellow cake was frosted with chocolate sweetened condensed milk. Ghetto, but you do what you have to do.
This week we found a new investigator named Solmon. Her son is a member of another ward, and he informed us that his mother wanted to meet with the missionaries. When we met with her she seemed less than enthusiastic and half of what she said were lies. (I know, because I talked to her son). Maybe she'll eventually change? We have a time set up to meet with her again, and I'm praying that it goes well.
We passed Tuwshintugs to the Elders at the request of his mother. Yesterday they reported that he's doing well, but I still have yet to see him at church. I hope that the Elders can help him!
We have two stellar investigators, Munkhshur and Baasanjaw. They have come to church every week for the past five weeks. Unfortunately, they never have time to meet with us so they are progressing slowly. Slowly, but surely.
Love,
Sister Magleby
